How much time is there per question on the digital SAT?
The official averages are about 1 minute 11 seconds per Reading & Writing question and about 1 minute 35 seconds per Math question. Those are section averages, not time limits for individual questions.
Why does this calculator include a review buffer?
A buffer reserves time to revisit flagged or unanswered questions. The calculator subtracts that buffer before finding the working pace, so the displayed working pace is more conservative than the full-time average.
Do I need to spend exactly the same time on every question?
No. Question difficulty and reading demand vary. Use the pace as a checkpoint baseline: move faster on straightforward questions and protect time for harder ones without letting a single item consume the module.
Does the 134-minute full-test preset include the break?
No. It represents 64 minutes of Reading & Writing plus 70 minutes of Math. College Board provides a 10-minute break between the two sections, and that break is not question-working time.
Why should I usually plan by module instead of the full test?
Bluebook times each module separately. A module plan gives you checkpoints that match the clock you actually see and prevents unused time from one module being treated as available in another.
Can I use this for extended-time accommodations?
Use the custom preset with the exact time and question count shown for your approved testing setup. The standard presets reflect standard timing and should not replace accommodation instructions.
Will following this pace improve my SAT score?
The calculator cannot predict score improvement. It creates a time-management plan only. Accuracy, content knowledge, question difficulty, and adaptive scoring still matter.
What should I do if I am behind at a checkpoint?
Avoid rushing blindly. Make a deliberate decision: answer a solvable question, make your best supported choice when needed, flag it, and protect enough time to reach every remaining item. Review the cause after practice.
