The same number can be interpreted differently across institutions, programs, countries, and credential evaluators.
Keep one scale throughout
Do not mix 4.0, 5.0, and 10.0 values in one calculation. Convert only through an official policy first.
Check excluded grades
Confirm how repeats, withdrawals, transfer work, pass/fail courses, and incomplete grades are handled.
Use proportional references carefully
A position such as 80% of a scale is not automatically 80 marks or an institution-approved 4.0 GPA.

How is CGPA calculated?
Multiply each term GPA or course grade point by its applicable credits, add those quality points, and divide by the total credits. This preserves the greater influence of higher-credit records.
Should I average my semester GPAs directly?
Only when every semester carries the same number of graded credits. If credit totals differ, enter each semester's credits so the calculator uses a weighted average instead of a potentially misleading simple mean.
Can I calculate from individual courses?
Yes. Select Course grade points, then enter every included course's grade point and credit value. The same quality-points formula produces the combined GPA for those courses.
Does the 4.0 reference convert my CGPA officially?
No. It is a proportional scale reference calculated as CGPA ÷ your scale maximum × 4. Institutions may use grade distributions, credential evaluations, course exclusions, or their own tables instead.
Is scale position the same as percentage marks?
No. Scale position only shows where the calculated CGPA falls between zero and the selected maximum. It is not a marks percentage, class rank, percentile, or credential evaluation.
How does the target calculation work?
After you add current CGPA and completed credits, the calculator finds the credit-weighted average required across the newly entered credits to finish at the target. It labels targets above the selected scale as unavailable in this period.
Should pass/fail, withdrawn, repeated, or transfer courses be included?
Follow your institution's official policy. These records are handled differently across institutions, and the calculator cannot decide whether they count. Include only credits and grade points that belong in your school's CGPA formula.
Why might my transcript CGPA differ?
Institutions may apply repeat rules, exclusions, grade replacement, program-specific weighting, transfer-credit treatment, or internal rounding. Treat the official transcript and registrar policy as authoritative.
